This meeting of the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development brought together members, country representatives, and observers to discuss the final evaluation of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) 2016-2025 and the draft update for MSSD 2026-2035. Participants examined key priorities, including the integration of sustainable finance and the reinforcement of flagship initiatives such as the Mediterranean Forest Initiative and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach. The meeting also introduced the first elements of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Framework for Mediterranean marine and coastal areas. The conclusions of this meeting will contribute to the final adoption of the updated MSSD at the upcoming COP24 of the Barcelona Convention.
