The pan-Mediterranean digital campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UNEP/MAP follows its route also in 2026 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Barcelona Convention through a more and more rich constellation of events around the Mediterranean Sea

The WES-BCA project organises the regional webinar “Strengthening Regulatory Frameworks for Plastics and Circular Economy Alignment”.
The objective of this webinar is to support Mediterranean Partner Countries in strengthening and aligning national regulatory frameworks for tackling plastic pollution, promoting sustainable alternatives and eco-innovation, in line with circular economy principles, regional commitments, and emerging international policy directions.

Specific Objectives:
▪ Enhance understanding of international and regional frameworks (legal, etc.) for tackling plastic pollution by raising awareness among policymakers including parliamentarians, legal advisers, and relevant authorities, about global, regional, and EU legislation, UNEP/MAP and UfM guidance, and other emerging policy directions, including options for eco-innovation and sustainable alternatives.
▪ Support practical legal and regulatory alignment in Partner Countries to address plastic pollution in line with regional commitments, through peer learning, sharing international benchmarks and good practices, and identifying priority regulatory gaps to inform national legislation, reform processes, and policies promoting effective innovative and sustainable solutions.
