The UfM Mediterranean Green Week is an annual event organised by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) dedicated
to fostering climate resilience, energy transition, sustainability, and inclusive green transformation in the Euro
Mediterranean region.
The 3rd edition will take place fully online (30 June – 3 July 2026): the event brings together national focal points, institutional partners, civil society organisations, financial institutions, and the wider public around four interconnected themes: climate action, energy transition, water resilience, and civil protection/disaster risk
management.
Each day of the Mediterranean Green Week hosts a dedicated regional platform or working group meeting, convening
representatives of the 43 UfM Member States alongside key regional and international partners. Most days also include
open sessions accessible to all interested stakeholders.
The 2026 edition is held under the co-presidency of the European Union and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the UfM Secretariat serving as the coordinating body across all four tracks.
Day 4 — Friday, 3 July 2026 | Civil Protection & Disaster Risk Management
The Mediterranean region faces escalating disaster risk, from increasingly severe wildfire seasons to floods,
earthquakes, and other hazards compounded by climate change. Day 4 convenes the UfM Regional Dialogue Platform
on Civil Protection and DRM in its first dedicated meeting on regional dialogue since the formal endorsement of the
UfM Action Plan on Civil Protection and DRM (2025–2030) by all 43 Member States. The session presents the strategic
orientations of the new Action Plan and begins operationalising it through peer dialogue among national focal points.
Concrete regional initiatives are reviewed — including aerial firefighting cooperation, regional training centres, and early
warning systems.
