The UfM Mediterranean Green Week is an annual event organised by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) dedicated
to fostering climate resilience, energy transition, sustainability, and inclusive green transformation in the Euro
Mediterranean region.
The 3rd edition will take place fully online (30 June – 3 July 2026): the event brings together national focal points, institutional partners, civil society organisations, financial institutions, and the wider public around four interconnected themes: climate action, energy transition, water resilience, and civil protection/disaster risk
management.
Each day of the Mediterranean Green Week hosts a dedicated regional platform or working group meeting, convening
representatives of the 43 UfM Member States alongside key regional and international partners. Most days also include
open sessions accessible to all interested stakeholders.
The 2026 edition is held under the co-presidency of the European Union and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the UfM Secretariat serving as the coordinating body across all four tracks.
Day 3 — Thursday, 2 July 2026 | Water Resilience
Water security is one of the most pressing challenges facing the Mediterranean, with rising demand, increasingly
constrained supply, and climate change amplifying both droughts and floods across the basin. Day 3 hosts the 16th
Meeting of the UfM Regional Platform on Water (RPWater-16), a key milestone in preparation for the Second UfM
Ministerial Meeting on Water on 28 September 2026. The platform takes stock of progress under the three strategic
frameworks approved at RPWater-15 (Barcelona, November 2025): the UfM Strategy for the WEFE Nexus in the
Mediterranean Source to Sea Continuum, the UfM Recommendations on Water Finance, and the UfM Regional Strategic
Framework for the Digitalisation of the Water Sector. It also features a structured dialogue on the EU Water Resilience
Strategy (adopted by the European Commission in June 2025). Unlike other days, the full morning session is open to
Member States and pre-selected invitees. The afternoon features an open public Webinar on Emerging Technologies
for the Water Sector — the third in a digitalisation webinar series co-organised with SIDA, HYDROC and GWP-Med —
accessible to all.
