The UfM Mediterranean Green Week is an annual event organised by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) dedicated
to fostering climate resilience, energy transition, sustainability, and inclusive green transformation in the Euro
Mediterranean region.
The 3rd edition will take place fully online (30 June – 3 July 2026): the event brings together national focal points, institutional partners, civil society organisations, financial institutions, and the wider public around four interconnected themes: climate action, energy transition, water resilience, and civil protection/disaster risk
management.
Each day of the Mediterranean Green Week hosts a dedicated regional platform or working group meeting, convening
representatives of the 43 UfM Member States alongside key regional and international partners. Most days also include
open sessions accessible to all interested stakeholders.
The 2026 edition is held under the co-presidency of the European Union and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with the UfM Secretariat serving as the coordinating body across all four tracks.
Day 2 — Wednesday, 1 July 2026 | Energy Transition
The Mediterranean energy landscape continues to evolve under conditions of geopolitical uncertainty, volatile global
markets, and the growing urgency of the clean energy transition. Day 2 convenes the UfM Regional Platform on Energy,
building on the Regional Action Plan on Energy endorsed at the 2025 Brussels meeting. The session reviews national
energy policy responses, advances dialogue on renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, and the role of gas
and clean hydrogen as transitional fuels, and updates Member States on EU initiatives including AccelerateEU, the Trans
Mediterranean Renewable Energy and Clean Tech (T-Med) Initiative, and the EUROSTAT Statistical Cooperation
Programme. Three Working Groups structure the platform’s technical work: Gas, Emissions Abatement and Hydrogen;
Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency; and Regional Electricity Markets. The morning session is reserved for focal
points and key stakeholders; an open conference follows in the afternoon
