The pan-Mediterranean digital campaign to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UNEP/MAP follows its route also in 2026 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Barcelona Convention through a more and more rich constellation of events around the Mediterranean Sea

The workshop demonstrates how the Copernicus Marine Service supports Maritime Spatial Planning by providing free, reliable, and science-based ocean data.

Organized by Mercator Ocean International, the implementer of the Copernicus Marine Service, the event highlights the use of key indicators such as multi-decadal trends in sea water temperature, sea level rise, ocean acidification, marine heatwave monitoring, and biogeochemical changes to support evidence-based decision-making.

The workshop addresses the growing challenges of managing increasingly busy marine spaces, including shipping, fisheries, renewable energy, and marine conservation, particularly in the context of climate change.
