The Observatoire Hommes-Milieux Littoral méditerranéen is an interdisciplinary research facility of the CNRS Ecology & Environment and Humanities & Social Sciences institutes, which is a beneficiary of future investments as part of the DRIIHM laboratory of excellence.
Each year it organises a seminar to discuss the research it supports.
Its scientific project is the study of coastal urbanisation and anthropisation in the Mediterranean. Against a backdrop of changing coastal management methods (ICZM), it is looking at four coastal socio-ecological systems that are unevenly subject to artificialisation and tourist and recreational use: the Gulf of Aigues-Mortes, the Marseilles coastline, the Corsican shores of Balagne and the Biguglia lagoon.
