The 10th Meeting of the Parties to the Pelagos Agreement
In Monte Carlo, the MOP10, the 10th Meeting of the Parties to the Pelagos Agreement, is taking place. The Pelagos Sanctuary is the only international marine area dedicated to the protection of marine mammals and their habitats in the Mediterranean Sea.
The main role of the Pelagos Agreement is to promote management measures for the protection of marine mammals and their habitats.
Within the Sanctuary, there are areas with a higher level of protection, such as Marine Protected Areas, National Parks, Natura 2000 sites of the European Union, and national SPAMIs (Specially Protected Areas of Mediterranean Importance), among others.
